The kitchen is typically thought of as the heart of the home. That's lovely and true, but more importantly its the helm of the ship, and YOU are the Capitan! I believe that women have been so unsupported for so long that we have walked away from the steering wheel hoping that the family will steer together. Not surprisingly its not working, for any of us. Every ship must have a Capitan and I am hereby giving you your rightful authority to accept this position! Now lets suit up, Ladies!
1. We are going to edit the collection down to what's important and valuable to your wellness. It is not going to be comfortable (its ok), you are going to argue with yourself (stop, ask yourself would you buy it today), you are going to throw away a lot of "money" in product (its ok, you won't be after this, call it tuition).
Do the below one at a time and you will feel completely empowered when you are done! Start with a clean kitchen, dishwasher unloaded, a sink of hot soapy water for stuff that's dusty or funky, at least two clean trash cans with liners and a few recycled handle bags for donate (if you aren't loving on it, someone else is waiting too) and a "put away elsewhere" box for the strays. Now down a cup of coffee and Buckle up!
2. Clear the counter tops of anything you do not use daily. Coffee maker, toaster, microwave, juicer can stay. Doubtful the mixer, blender, etc. are in daily rotation. Get a counter top cleaner that you REALLY love the smell of, it will help reinforce how much you love the clean counter space.
This clearing also importantly includes food product. Unless its Fruits, nuts, cherry tomatoes - actual whole food, then it's not out. Research proves we eat with our eyes, if you see healthy food, you'll start eating it. So snack food, chips, cookies, cereal all get nearly hidden - for your own good.
3. Clean out the freezer. Dump (or drop at a homeless shelter if available) anything that's been in there for more than a year. If it hasn't seemed appealing to you in the past 12 months, it never will be. Going forward we will make more selective choices.
4. Clean out the Fridge. Throw away coagulating salad dressings, combine the three things of open mustard, science projects, anything you can't remember the last time you used it. The majority of products in most people fridge door are never touched, people keep them just in case. Your investment in your health is by design not by accident.
5. Clean out the Pantry. Empty the entire pantry out, give it a hot soapy wipe down. Go through every item and either toss, donate or acknowledge that the item will contribute to your health and put aside.
Now go through what you kept, read each ingredient panel and look for these 7 baddatives. If they are included, you need to reconsider donating them and going forward, not buying.

With what remains, sort into grains and pastas, beans, vegetables, baking products, etc., all like things together.
Breakfast-only things get their own space and single-serve things get a square container for quick retrieval. If you're not a baker and have a ton of baking supplies, consider giving it to a friend so it's not wasted.
6. Clean out the drawers. One at a time, empty completely and wipe out. Touch each item. Trash, donate or keep. Trash if you don't know what it is or goes to, donate if you haven't needed it in a year. Apart from holiday items (which should be editted, boxed together and stored elsewhere.), if you haven't used it three months, you don't need it, donate it for someone who does. Replace your few valued pieces back into the drawer, head to the next one!
7. Clean out the cabinets. One at a time, empty completely and wipe out. Touch each item. Trash, donate or keep. Trash if you don't know what it is or goes to, donate if you haven't needed it in a year.
Apart from holiday items (which should be edited, boxed together and stored elsewhere.), if you haven't used it in six months, you don't need it, donate it for someone who does. I strongly advise you to avoid keeping mismatched items, broken pieces, replace your few valued pieces back into the cabinet, head to the next one!
